Description
We’re blessed with a litter of Weizsla puppies from Whiskey and Colt born on December 12th. There are 5 Girls and 5 Boys in this litter. The litter will be available to go home on February 6th.
Visit this page for weekly videos and photos of this litter. The pictures are from the current litter.
The Dam:
The Dam for this special litter is our Beautiful Whiskey. Whiskey is a sweetheart of a girl with great conformation. She fits into all the AKC guidelines for Vizslas. We’re probably very partial but I feel that she’s the perfect example of a Vizsla and built for a dual potential dog. Whiskey has a great temperament and disposition. She gets along well with other dogs. Whiskey is a very happy girl. She is part of the family and likes the attention but also does great when left alone. Whiskey is very loyal and just wants to do whatever her owners are doing. Whiskey is a bird dog that loves to spend the day in the field. She is hard charging with an exceptional nose, intense prey drive, and excellent stamina. We are extremely proud of Whiskey and are expecting some of the same characteristics from her pups.
The Sire:
Our Colt is the stud dog for this litter. Colt is a Big Silver Weimaraner, he’s impressive, and represents the breed beautifully. He is a big Weimaraner with excellent conformation. Colt has AKC Championship Bloodlines. With his pedigree, we are anticipating intelligent puppies, have excellent conformation and very loyal family members.
With the qualities of the Sire and Dam, we are looking forward to seeing some great pups from this litter. Under the proper environment, conditions, and training, we feel that these pups will have the potential to become competitive hunters, or maybe just that new special family member.
There is a $300 deposit to reserve your puppy, and the remaining balance of $1300 is due when picking up your puppy. The puppies from this litter will be available to go home to their new families on April 13th. We are currently taking deposits for ‘s litter.
What is a Weizsla?
The Weizsla or Vizmaraner is a new exciting hybrid between the Weimaraner and the Vizsla, two superb bred German and Hungarian playful and friendly with other dogs and very affectionate.
Physically they are varying shades of Black with Chocolate/Brown being the standard and are also very clean dogs with minimal grooming requirements. The eye color ranges from the green of the Weimaraner to the hazel of the Vizsla. With a long life expectancy of twelve to fifteen years, they have few health problems, and we offer a guarantee against genetic defects.
BREED HISTORY
The Vizsla is a sleek, slender built dog with rust coloring that perfectly matches its eye color. The Hungarian or Magyar Vizsla is a breed that lived and hunted with ancient Magyar tribes in the Carpathian Basin. Catlike in behavior, a Vizsla is a very clean dog, grooming itself like a cat; when hunting, they look to the sky, compared to a Weimaraner who looks to the ground. Vizsla males tend to be around 45-66 pounds, and the females average 40-55 pounds.
The Weimaraner is German-bred and was bred to hunt with German nobles and aristocrats. The early breeding program of the Weimaraner was so specialized that it was rare for anyone not of royal breeding to own such a wonderful dog. Initially bred to hunt wild elk and boar, when elk and boar disappeared, Germans switched to birds. Weimaraners can be headstrong and need a firm and consistent owner, so a family with an established routine is an excellent choice. Depending on the size of the Weimaraner, females average 70-90 pounds and males 78-95 pounds.
Gaining in popularity, Weizsla’s are a man’s dog outside, a women’s dog in the house, and a stellar breed for children and active families. Very affectionate and loving, this breed needs to be housed with families and not in kennels. They see themselves as part of the family pack and like nothing better to cuddle on the couch with their human families. They are not hyper as some postings on the internet state but like twenty minutes or more a day of running, walking, or active play. The Weizsla seems to get more of the Vizsla’s temperament, but both breeds love close human contact, to run and play on land and water and to be with their family. People will stop you when you own a Weizsla and ask you all about him or her, so be prepared for that.
The puppies will have been…
As always, your pup will have been dewormed several times with a vet grade dewormer. They will have had their first two sets of vaccinations completed. The tail will appropriately be docked and the dewclaws removed by a certified vet. Your puppy will get its final vet checkup to ensure that you are getting the healthiest puppy possible.
While the puppies are growing, we take weekly photos, and starting week 2; we begin doing videos of the pups to ensure you’re not missing out on anything during this exciting time. We do our best to make this a fun family experience that you will never forget. Our puppy owners love the pictures and videos and are always looking forward to the next one. The videos give you lots of useful info and help you and your family when it is time on the 8th week to pick out your new puppy/family member.
Please give Rob a call at 812-709-1840 or Terry at 812-709-1839 if you have additional questions about Whiskey’s litter or to reserve your puppy.
Your Weizsla puppy will be available to go on 6th for those picking up their puppy. If your puppy is being shipped, we are planning on February 10th.

I am asking that only 2 people per family come to pick up their puppy due to the Corona-virus outbreak. Please, no small children, I do not have gloves or proper masks to fit children. We will require that the 2 people that come in to pick the puppy arrive at the exact time and leave at the time scheduled to limit the number of people in our home at one time. We will also require booties to cover shoes, gloves before handling the puppies, and a mask to control the environmental contamination. I am immunocompromised due to anti-rejection medications that I take due to kidney transplant.
