Bring along a sturdy leash and collar with ID tags. Make sure you have their license and proof of rabies vaccination handy. Most dog park areas may require this as well. |
2. |
While you’re driving, keep your dog in a crate or use a harness that attaches to the seat belt to make sure they’re safe. Here at White River Kennels, we use a seat belt harness and it gives you not only the feeling of safety but keeps your Weimaraner or Vizsla in that area of the vehicle. |
3. |
Never leave your Weimaraner or Vizsla dog alone in a closed car, especially during the summertime when cars reach dangerously hot temps fast. If you need to step out of the car, make sure a family member or friend can keep them company. |
4. |
Make sure your dog has fresh water to drink. When you are making pit stops on your trip, look for places that have outdoor eating areas. So many restaurants are pet friendly now. So plan ahead for your dog too. |

Pit Stop! Plan ahead for extra stops for potty breaks and exercise time. Always be sure to bring along waste bags to clean up after your dog. Make sure that wherever you stay they are pet friendly. A lot of places will also have an area to take your Weimaraner or Vizsla for a walk and potty area too. Our dogs require a lot of exercise and so make a plan for a hike, walk on the beach, or whatever your plans maybe make sure to include your Weimaraner and Vizsla. Make memories with your best friend. |
